We took our first day trip this weekend to the beautiful Cliffs of Moher! We left our apartment at 8 am when it was dark and returned at 7 pm when it was dark again. We went with a company called Paddywagon and it was €35 for the whole day. Entirely worth it! The pickup spot was about a 10 minute walk from our apartment and it was a beautiful day from the very start.

This was our ride for the day. I set my expectations at the level of sketchy school bus, so this was great.

Our first stop was on the banks of the River Shannon in Limerick City. We only stopped for about 20 minutes, but we were able to see King John’s Castle and an adorably cute little dog. We also made a trip to the bathroom (“The Toilets”) where we had to pay 20 cents to enter…it was set up like a donation box, but we weren’t willing to take the chance, so Mimi manned up and covered our exact change.

It is not a rumor. There are sheep everywhere. & cows. & horses. & crows. & seagulls. & pigeons.

The next stop we made was at a portal tomb called Poulnabrone Dolmen. It was much colder than I expected and windy, but we still enjoyed every second! The ground was basically all rock and there were rock walls everywhere. There was also a guard at the tomb. Someone said that it would literally be the most boring job ever, but when a bus full of touristy people shows up, at least that provides a little bit of entertainment.

The next stop was lunch! We ate at a pub called Fitz’s Bar. Mimi and I had the special of the day which was vegetable and potato pancakes, with a side of carrots and potatoes, some greens, and another side of potatoes. Potatoes on potatoes on potatoes. It was delicious. I’m thankful for my open-minded taste buds.

Next stop were the Cliffs of Moher! The pictures do not begin to do the cliffs justice. They are incredibly beautiful. Honestly one of the most amazing opportunities I’ve had. We spent an hour and a half at the cliffs before we began our journey back home to Cork. Mimi and I were cliff buddies for the day…and we took about a million pictures and said how beautiful it was about a trillion times. And the sun came out just before we left, so we literally bolted back up the hill to get a few sun pics!

And of course I represented the Pack while I was there…in preparations for the 1:30 am kickoff that night/morning.

It was an amazing day.
